The handbook is a publication of Texas State University-San Marcos, produced by the Office of University Marketing and coordinated through the Office of the Dean of Students.

The information in this handbook is not a contract and is subject to change at any time without notice. Welcome

Welcome, Bobcat Class of 2012!

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome you to one of the greatest institutions in the country your new school and home, Texas State University. I can say with complete confidence that by choosing to attend Texas State, you have made one of the best decisions of your life.

Without a doubt, the next four or five years of your life here can be the best years of your life. We are fortunate to have faculty and staff that truly care about our success and work very closely with us the students.

Although you may be a little nervous about finding your place at Texas State, I promise you have nothing to worry about and a host of new experiences to take advantage of, from hanging out at Sewell Park and going to sports games to enjoying great Texas State University events like the recent Paul Wall concert at Riverfest.

I want to challenge you to not only excel in your academic endeavors, but to get involved. We have almost 300 student organizations and one of them is bound to fit you perfectly. Participate and contribute your talents to the community you'll get satisfaction and education in return for your efforts.

Similarly, the Associated Student Government is an important part of your career at Texas State. So please understand that this administration and your Senate Select are here to represent you. We welcome and encourage all students to attend our meetings and learn about the issues we face as students or call attention to items that are important to you.

Our offices are located on the fourth floor of the LBJ Student Center in Suite 4-5.1. Please join us for meetings on Mondays at 7 p.m., on the third floor of the LBJ Student Center, Suite 3-14.1.

Have fun in the newest chapter of your life; study hard, make everlasting relationships, and Eat 'Em Up Cats!

Dear Student:

Welcome to the Texas State community. I am excited that you have chosen to become a Bobcat. Members of the university community are committed to providing you with the assistance, encouragement and support necessary for you to become a successful graduate of Texas State.

The university community believes strongly in the concept of total education. We want to assist in your development and ensure that you are academically well-rounded and that you are also a responsible citizen. We want you to be fully prepared to leave this environment with all the tools necessary to lead a productive life.

Texas State offers a myriad of opportunities for growth and leadership experience through your involvement in student organizations and student activities. It is important that you take advantage of at least some of these opportunities so that your time here will be meaningful and enjoyable. I believe that your success at this university will be dependent on your interaction in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom. If you take advantage of the opportunities here, your experience at Texas State will serve you well in years to come.

Make the most of this exciting time in your life. As your Bobcat partners, we will work with you to ensure that the social climate on our campus is stimulating. We will make sure that our student support services provide opportunities for growth and are readily available and effective.
